
Punjab becomes first state to impart IELTS training through govt ITIs
Punjab is a leading state for migration with a large diaspora, known for its hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
At a function held in Chandigarh to sign the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training and Cambridge university, Technical Education Minister Rana Gujeet Singh said that approximately 6 lakh Punjabis appear for IELTS Examination each year in Punjab to achieve their dream of Study or Work Visa in Foreign countries .
The MOU was signed by Managing Director, Cambridge University Press India Mr Arun Rajamani, and Secretary Technical Education & Industrial Training Mr Vikas Garg in the presence of Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh and Advisor to CM Govt. of Punjab (Skill Development & Technical Education) Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura

Punjab is happy to be the first state to sign an IELTS agreement with Cambridge University Press India for providing coaching and preparation of IELTS to the youth of Punjab in government ITIs and polytechnics acoss Punjab. The minister further elaborated that according to the MoU, the Punjab government has set up a foreign study and placement cell to enable the transition of youth through legal pathways to foreign countries by means of a tightly integrated framework of District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprise (DBEEs), and IELTS Coaching preparation . The english teachers of ITIs will appear in the IELTS exam and those who will secure 8 bands will be considered for IELTS coaching.
Their instructors of existing private IELTS Centres aren’t qualified and specialized, according to the minister. He further said that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have been set for all private IELTS centers for the development, accreditation, and management of English language training centers .Adding to the urgency of framing the SOPs to regulate ghost immigration consultants, preventing forged marriages, and monitoring biometric appointment issues in Punjab, he said that the Punjab government is committed to ensuring that the youth of states who are moving to foreign countries have a legalized environment in which they can freely move without falling prey to sharks who are attempting to make money by fulfilling their dreams in a deceptive way.
